As many Chinese people have English names, many foreign people have Chinese names. The translated Chinese names<\/a> do not follow the traditional rules for Chinese people. They are mainly translated based on the pronunciation of the name in other languages. Each character in the names does not have special meanings in most cases. And sometimes, the names can be of several characters while the typical Chinese names are normally 2-3 characters long.<\/p>

For names in Asian languages, as some Asian languages such as Japanese and Korean share some similarities to Chinese language, for example, characters are also used in these languages although the pronunciation can be totally different.
